A flash meeting with JoDee Messina
Everyone at Wayne was great. They were so helpful! Water, food, pop, beer...whatever we needed! I didn't even have to carry most of my stuff. Felt a little like a rock star. ;) I was worried the crowd wouldn't arrive until 8:30 when JoDee Messina was supposed to start playing, but at 7:00 there they were! Larry Sure was running sound and he was just as attentive as our regular sound men! I meant to thank him over the mic but am a little scatter brained on stage. Thanks Larry! Sounded great.
We've opened for a lot of nationals and I really haven't met many of them. I hear all the stories from other bands about partying w/them afterwards and I have never had that. Apparently all of the acts I've opened for have been like JoDee. We had just enough time w/her before the show for the flash of a camera to go off. When we approached her after the show...well, tried, she turned and walked (more like ran) off.
I just hope that if my dream ever comes true that I don't forget what it's like in the beginning. I can't imagine doing a show w/screaming fans and then bolting at the thought of actually conversing w/them. Maybe she's just shy...I guess I wouldn't know! Anyway, once again, I want to say how great the fair board peeps treated us. Thank you so much for having us at the Wayne Co. Fair! We hope we can see you all again soon.
