Welcome to the band, Travis!
Finally...I would try to sum up all of the shows since the last time I filled you in...but there is no way I can remember all that. Anyway...we had a last minute Shooters gig in Kearney that we just got back from. It was a lot of fun and despite the weather we ended up having a great crowd, both nights!
Andy and I had planned to drive home to Arcadia Friday night but we ended up crashing at the RodeWay Inn with the rest of the band, where we stayed up way too, well, early. I only know that when we woke up at 1 for a 2:00pm check out it felt insanely early. Then we had the rest of the day to wonder around homeless. Looking back we really should have crashed Bill's room. Denise and I tried to catch some Z's in the suburban but I didn't get anywhere w/that either. Saturday night may have been a bit of a subdued show...
After Shooters, where Travis Kilpatrick filled in for us on drums, we decided to keep him forever. ;) Welcome to the band Travis! I want to thank everyone for their calls and support. We wish we could have all of you in the band but there just isn't enough money (or space on stage!) to go around! I also want to thank James Bundy for years of hard work, fun and friendship. He and his family are a huge part of how Canyon Run got to where we are today.
Andy (my hubby) also took on a bit of a different role in the band. Instead of being the designated drinker, he took on a sound system and is running the gigs that Foley can't. Between the two of them we've got...well, we've got a couple of crazy sound men I guess...but they're ours and we love them! The band has this weekend of due to high school graduations. Congratulations Parkers and Fikars! (Denise, did I spell that right? Spell check says no...) Saturday night Denise and I are headed to Hope's in Red Oak, IA again. If you're in the area or up for a road trip come on out! It's small town fun and good music too! See you all soon!
